im i decorator and have to hump round loads of furniture all the time ,obviously some items are delicate or old!!! ,but usually the worst thing is beds ,ive broke loads of legs off beds ,a never say ought tho ,just put it in me pocket and fling it on t way home ,an dont tell customer just pack...

i dont mean to be orrible ,if you do a good job and are looking at a future caree ,sometimes you have to loose money to gain money!!,ie do a good job reasonable money ,then next time they will come back to you ..up north i live in york ,the going rate for a pro deccy is bout £16/ £18 per hour...

see you are in kent ie down south ,if you are agood decorator this is way below industry standard.but having said that if your happy to earn this little ,im happy to earn much more .moral of the story is would you rather earn next to nought or make good money ,or put another way ....too busy...

fair enough your reply ,i know its industry standard ,i too was taught that for level 2/3 ,nvq in 2000,i still think its a hark back to when it must have been the same wittdh as finished paper ,maybe best to agree that whatever lends its self best to the situation, its a personal choice thing...

having read loads of posts on this forum re lining paper ,i feel many of you give the wrong advice rearding hanging lining paper,ie the assumption that proper decorators apply it horizontally ,could i ask why ??? .probably because that is what is taught and is read in books .dosnt mean its right...
