Bricking up a window. Can I use any type of bricks?

Hi, I plan on bricking up a window. Does it matter what bricks I use inside or out if it is going to be rendered over anyway? I have a mixture of engineering bricks and facing bricks left over. Can I just use a mixture of these or should I keep the bricks all the same? Thanks
