Thanks for the replies all, the previous owner was an elderly lady so i assume she liked a very warm house given the high setting. I've knocked it down to 20 to see how it goes.

I assume then this is wired to my timer for the central heating? sorry for the inane questions, I haven't a clue how all these things work!!

Hi all My house was built in 1992 however I just bought it last year. The attached photo is in our hall way, is this a thermostat? A friend who is a spark said he thought it was, however wasnt sure if it was still being used if we set our heating on a timer?
