Thanks guys. The slope is about 20 degrees on average and about 20m long. I'm already planning back drop manholes in places but I want to make the most of what pipe slope I can. As the article from Softus shows, for less than 1L/m use minimum 1:40. What I am after is the maximum. The word...
I'm installing a new foul water drain fed by one shower/toilet/sink for occasional use. The guide lines I've read for this application either say 1:40 or 'minimum 1:40' slope on the drain. I know that solids can get left behind if too steep but nowhere can I find a figure for the maximum slope...
Are there good makes and bad makes of PRVs? Are there reliability issues? I'm fitting a PRV as we have over 5bar water pressure but don't know if I need to go for/avoid particular makes.

Thanks, I'm already using hair felt in notched joists, this is running along between the joists on a 6m run, so plenty of expansion. We have full access as the ceilings underneath are down so I can clip at correct intervals if that is then going to be creak free.
Thanks for all the interesting discussion! I've checked with Halstead and they are quite happy with the 4m of 22 mm pipe that will make up the total central heating system with the 2m flow joined to the 2m return at the end. The idea of just shutting off at the cocks wasn't pursued as they...
I'm fitting new wooden windows into not too good brickwork and want to seal the gap with expanding foam. Is it much better/easier to use a foam gun and gun grade foam rather than just the cans?
Is it possible to run a combi boiler without the radiators so that we can use it for hot water whilst all the rads are being installed at a later date. I assume this would be done by linking the flow and return pipes together and having the heating demand switched off. The boiler has an...
