Quick update
So I did the individual radiator flush yesterday starting at the furthest and then working backwards individually
Progress was slow and as advised, I left the central heating on low throughout the flush
The radiator closest to the boiler was obviously last and as you can see from...
thanks @DP
temperature appears to be holding between 38-42
its a slow process but definitely working
it'll definitely take the rest of this evening to complete but at least its "hands off"
thanks again !
@DP - i've taken your advice and have dropped the CH temp on the boiler to 2 ish, and opened the lowest drain and opened the filling loop and managed to get a steady flow/trickle
i was nervous about doing this and it took a bit of juggling but seems to be working
First radiator looks to be done...
Apologies for forgetting to respond @endecotp
Yes when I drain I open the upstairs bleed valves to break the vacuum on the system
Here are the instructions from the back of the bottle which do not mention about the colour of the fluid after removal
Is it though unless I’m missing something as i’m filling the system each time, bleeding all rads so the system is completely full and at 1bar, run the system to slosh around and dilute and then drain
Not the quickest method but it has to be removing albeit slowly
Thanks for your reply again @DP but what my point is why so many fills, drains (albeit partial) and partial flushes have not yet changed the colour significantly
I’ve stuck gallons of fresh water in to dilute the cleaner and run the system but the colour looks consistent still
The cleaner is...
@gas112
Here is this morning‘s first drain down (see photo)
I have used a clear container so it is easier to see the colour of the water
I have taken a bottle as a sample when the container was completely full so I can do some litmus tests when they arrive today using the same volume of water...
I have received confirmation from Wavin that the red text on the pipe denotes that it is barrier protected so a useful piece of information they have provided
Thanks for the reply @DP
Answering your last questions first, I wanted to run the cleaner through to give it a good clean as I’ve installed new radiators so wanted to clean the system of any flux, et cetera
The mag magnaclean doesn’t do this as I understand it, it is to get rid of the...
@dilalio
All copper except 2 x 5m lengths (the flow & return) to a radiator at the end of my extension ( done by my builder 14 years ago)
The connections are Hep20 to this radiator
@gas112 here is the latest drain off water
Once it tails off, I shut 3 out of the 4 downstairs drains off and then flush that rad and it will go clean
I start with the closest to the boiler and then work away
I throttle the drain a little to fill the rads a little before opening again
Gotta...
Thanks @gas112
So I think this is drain down number six or number seven and as you can see it is still extremely yellow in colour
Gotta say I’m actually regretting putting this cleaner in now I think and don’t understand why it’s not coming out if that’s what this yellow is indicating
