flexi metal duct to ridge vent (Ed.)

I was in the loft looking at the vent from the shower when I found another metal spiral wound duct pipe. This duct goes from the gable wall up to a ridge vent. there is no external vent on the gable so is this vent pipe for venting the cavity? never in my whole life seen a vent from a cavity...

    Loft conversion - 3 bed to a 4 bed.

All the collars are in. A job that I am tres happy is over. In the end I used Joyner bolts to fix these. Not the cheapest but really easy to use and did the job a treat.20190805_161557 by shedifice posted 11 Aug 2019 at 8:30 PM

Next was to finally commit to destroying the old wardrobe cupboard that will eventually be the stairs. 20190805_090300 by shedifice posted 11 Aug 2019 at 8:30 PM I decided to get into graffiti mode to work out how the stairs might look. I need to order the stairs but I have to be real careful...

Just a note that it is surprising home much stiffer the old ceiling was with a cross tie. fixed over the ceiling joists. once these were removed for the new joists to go in the flex in the ceiling was quite large! you can see the cut cross tie in the following picture with the last bit still...

Note to self - do loft conversions in the spring or autumn! it was hot today. One half of the joists now in. Joists fixed down to the wall plates and herringbone stiffening added to the joists,. As the joists were double its not as stiff as it could be but with a floor screwed on top it should...

    Loft conversion - 3 bed to a 4 bed.

Yesterday was raining, really raining, that was the day set by to work out how to fit the joists. In the morning it was evident that the temporary weather protection on the hole in the roof needing tinkering as water was dripping in and pooling on the plasterboard ceiling, then running to the...

    Loft conversion - 3 bed to a 4 bed.

Loft is part cleared of insulation and significant amounts of dust. Interesting finds beneath the insulation include mastermind pieces, an old Epcot center match book and the fag packet sketch of the wiring that I assume was done by the builders in the 50s. Clearing insulation clearing...

    Loft conversion herringbone for Joists

HI, Thanks for the reply. I am leaving 25mm below the new joists. These are the struts you can buy but they will not work on 350 center joists As the straps work in tension I was considering making them from banding I was hoping that as long as they were installed tight then they would do...
