    Insulating over spotlights ?

    If your lights happen to be low voltage (12V), do not put loft insulation over the transformer. I found this out the hard way. The transformer lasted for about 30 seconds.

    I found the silicone insulated cable, RS Components part 192-7940. Thank you. This cable is rated to 180°C, so much more suitable for use near a hot lamp. Whether it would survive prolonged direct contact with a halogen bulb, I suppose I could find out by experiment on the kitchen table...
