    Hi, yes your bottom bracket is scrap, but this cheap type is still available to buy from a decent bike shop, The chainset ( large cogs ) will need to be removed with a crank extractor and thenusing a punch and a hammer, undo the side you have photoed by tapping it in a clockwise direction...

    cheers Richard, Yes I'm installing a new Log burner in an old fireplace that has had a new brick fierplace built, a bricklayer friend of mine is doing the work, and has done these installations before, but hadn't mentioned Building Control permission before. Is it compulsory? :D :D
