Subfloor on celotex - choices - grateful for advice

Hi, In the midst of renovating rooms on the ground floor. It's an old church, with a concrete slab floor over DPM. I'm planning on insulating the floor with 50mm celotex, and was looking at putting 18 or poss 22.5mm T&G chipboard over the top for the subfloor. 50mm with floating chipboard...

Concrete sectional garage - roof joists, lintels question

This is what I never said, but somehow you have concluded this. Three garages into a double and a single is not one large one. Double sectional garages exist and I've seen double plus single online. Nonetheless after your lipstick on a pig jibe, In my second post, i said I'd just refurb the...

Concrete sectional garage - roof joists, lintels question

It's been standing like this for around 30 years at a guess. In Scotland, with snow, wind, rain etc. I'm lightening the roof load and strengthening the structure....

Concrete sectional garage - roof joists, lintels question

Ha - it's funny, was just using the lipstick on a pig expression with a mate to describe what I'm doing. There are no steel trusses - it just has timbers. I think what I'm going to do is refurb the two doors on the centre and right and put a stud wall and cladding on the workshop garage. New...

Concrete sectional garage - roof joists, lintels question

hi, currently have a concrete sectional triple garage that I'm removing the fibre concrete asbestos roof and replacing with plastisol coated 0.7mm steel. I'd like to turn the three garages 8ft door and two 7ft 6" doors into one double and a workshop. Current roof joists are timber 150 x 47mm...

Church Conversion Corner Fireplace - to Wood Burning Stove

Hi, In the process of sorting out a fairly shabby conversion of an 1843 Church. The plan was to remove a corner fireplace in the kitchen and install a free standing wood burning stove. The outline plan was to break into the chimney flue 2/3 of the way up the wall and connect to flexi liner to...

    CH Circulation

I'll double check at the weekend, but i'm pretty sure it's cutting out before the return gets hot, but the flow gets hot as expected. Eventually, the return will get warm, but that's before all the radiators are getting hot. I've tried so many things, I'll try and be a little more structured...

    CH Circulation

Getting a little frustrated with my CH system. Symptom - poor circulation, difficult to balance. 16 Rads, 3 Towel Rails. boiler on top floor. Large property (converted church). Mix of Cast iron rads and modern. Magnaclean fitted. System is reasonably clean - only about 3 years old...

    Insulating arched window header.

In the process of renovating a "renovation" in a old church. Situation: arch has been "built" around window header using pieces of celotex 50mm dot/dabbed onto existing stone work, with no mechanical fixings, gaps sealed with foam, and some fibre glass wooll shoved into gaps. Covered in...

German 1/2" TRV body onto 15mm copper pipe ok?

Thanks for the suggestion - have read the Drayton valves have some compatability issues with the HR80s - I did think the gold ones might have been ok, but MrsW thinks they are a bit too bling, and I don't think they do them in body only, so at £30 a pop, get's a bit pricey! I was hoping for...

German 1/2" TRV body onto 15mm copper pipe ok?

Yes - that's the vertical install, but I could also install horizonally with an angled valve (at least on some of the rads). But I would probably go vertically on all, as the display will be little used apart from setup (it's not really a TV or anything) and in any case, the set point is set...

German 1/2" TRV body onto 15mm copper pipe ok?

I think I've spent hours on Google you know. Those are ornate TRVs that are around £60 each and up. Not really a viable solution for this. I want a TRV body - body only, not an ornate valve. It's for an HR80UK programmer valve head, so paying for an ornate valve is a bit of a waste.....
