Thanks. Seems there is no low cost tool for this. I just spent £150 on a mitre saw and bench for it.

I need to cut 145mm skirting board at a 45 degree angle. My mitre box and saw is too shallow for board of this height. I am looking to buy a cheaper mitre hand or power saw suitable for this job. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what could be suitable.

Correction, I have a sheet sander not an orbital sander.

Is there a cheap way to grind it down without tool hire? I have an orbital and palm sander here. Could I use one of those with a certain grade paper?

The microwave was unplugged when I tried to get power on after I'd tightened the wire connections in the powersockets. Perhaps this was the source of the problem . If its just a case of pulling out a breaker to replace it I'll try another 32amp breaker. If that doesn't work or it trips out...
