Hmm, that's a good point, I never thought of the porosity of the surface. I shall try giving them a call, now where did I put the packaging??

Hi,
I've just bought the BAL waterproof kit and speaking to the woman in the shop she advised me against applying it directly to the wall as it stands now. At the moment it is just the bonding coat without any finishing coat. I didn't see the point of putting a finish coat on as it will be...
I asked in B&Q about the waterproofing the other month and was told to use gloss paint on the wall first, before tiling, so the water wouldn't penetrate into the wall beneath the tiles.
What's worrying is that some people will take this advice...
I bought the extendable flexible connector from B&Q the other day cost £18 and then found basically the same thing in Wickes for £11. The Wickes connector is around 100mm longer in its' 'shortest' length but, in my case this was fine, so the B&Q item went back.
Sorry, but I can't remember...
Not too much of a problem as the house is being done up to sell anyway. But even then I am screwing them in place and covering the head with caps, which allows for them to be lifted out, stripped and repainted.

Hi,
I have just repaired the plaster around the bath, around 25mm deep and would like to know how long I need to leave it before I waterproof it ready for tiling. I'm guessing it is going to be the same sort of time as before painting fresh plaster.
Also apart from the BAL product, can...
I'm replacing the sills in the bathroom and kitchen as they were a mixture of wood boards and tiles.
After I tile up the sides to the same level as the splashbacks then I will fit 10mm toughened glass sills, back painted to match the rooms colours.

I did realise the drill was the wrong size after I drilled the hole. Even though it was for a 32mm waste pipe the intention was for it to be used on 40mm and 32mm. Only after trying to fit the pipe did I see my mistake.
Maybe in my initial post I should have pointed out more clearly that I...
That was the problem it didn't fit.
I bought the 40mm TCT core drill thinking it would open up to greater than 40mm which it may of, but obviously not enough because as you say the 40mm dia pipe is internal not external. If I'd known this at the time I would not have bought the 40mm ...
Didn't get around to doing it last night, but even if it doesn't work then it's not a problem to put it back to its' original operation as it just a case of splitting the flow \ return so that it flows around the system and re-connecting it if turns out to be worse.
Thanks for the advice so...
I knew it would be a good idea to leave the floorboards loose! :) I'll give it a try tonight and see how much of a difference makes before balancing. 8)
