    Replacing old switches

Decorating my hall so I thought it would be an easy job to replace the old MK 1960's switches with some new MK switches. Unfortunatly the connections on the back are different. Can anyone tell me what wires go where? The first picture is the switch that works the downstairs hall light and...

    Cracks in concrete floor

'Rizzla thick', thats the thickness of a rizzla paper, if it was the thickness of an opened pack of rizzlas, I'd be a little more concerned! Can't download any pictures as its now covered in new vinyl. Cheers for the replies.

    Cracks in concrete floor

Hi, it's basicaly a 'rizzla thick crack', making a rectangle 3m by 5m in the corner of the floor. this has two other cracks running from it. One inside this rectangle making it almost square and one offset in the opposite direction to the other side of the house. Hope that makes some sense !

    Cracks in concrete floor

Replacing old vinyl and found some hairline cracks in the concrete floor. The house was built in 1964. the floor isn't damp and there are no corresponding cracks in the brickwork. Is this anything to worry about or is this normal for a 46 year old house? A big thanks to anyone who replies!

    Vinyl flooring

Hi, cheers for the reply. When I removed the two layers of vinyl ( last layer well and truly stuck down) the concrete did feel slightly damp and smelt musty but that cleared up overnight. The rest of the concrete flooring in the house was / is covered in tiles but I havn't got a clue what they...

    Vinyl flooring

I'm laying vinyl onto a concrete floor in a house built in 1964. Can the vinyl be laid straight onto the concrete or is it better to give it a coat of liquid DPM? Cheers for any replies.

    plastic to copper convertor

Fixed it! Used one of Marleys 32mm couplings (length of rubber with two jubilee clips). Its made for 38mm - 32mm but easily slids over the 40mm pipe when soaked in hot water.

    plastic to copper convertor

Cheers for the reply. Just measured the copper pipe with a vernier caliper and its 34.72mm or 1.367" . So obviously a 1 1/4" converter would be to small but would a 1 1/2" be to big? I've got a rubber converter with jubilee clips joining the two pipes together at the moment but because the end...

    plastic to copper convertor

Hi, my house built in 1964 has what looks like copper pipe for the waste, what can I use to connect it to a 40mm plastic waste pipe? I don't know if there was a standard size pipe used in 1964 but this pipe is a little under 34mm.
