As an after thought would we be best insulating the whole downstairs suspended floor or just so much after the party wall. Don't particularly want to rip up all the floorboards as will be a nightmare of a job
Sorry John I can see now what you mean. To confirm the joists run into the party wall. I am unsure if there is gaps around where the joists run into the wall which needs to be sealed to block the noise?

The sounds can be heard directly from the party wall even though we have built an independent false wall Infront. I am now wondering if the sound is now coming up through the floor rather than the new sealed wall.

Hi all - From taking more of the wall down the wooden frame looks solid but can see in some places the wood has started to rot. What would be the best sealer as will coat all the wood in this for durability before we insulate etc. Thanks

We will be pulling all the plaster off so we can see the framework and take it from there. Probably re-strengthen the frame and add the celotex and make the wall deeper to enable a deeper window cill. Do we need to leave a gap behind the celotex?

Thank you for this advice it's a great help! Yes our bay window seems to be single skin. It looks like the render which joins onto our way forming the corner has come away and we can see straight outside. I think we're more concerned how it's all held up but it's probably used reinforced timber...
