    HELP! CLAY SOIL!!

Hi guys, I've attached photos. Front of my house I'm preparing area for laying down decorative gravel. You can see in the photos that I've removed 6" thick blue clay. Horrible stuff. The gravel was a thin layer laid by house developers 20 years ago! Blue plastic sheeting was used as weed...

    Distance between fence posts

Ok I've replaced several 9ft high posts, 4" × 4" into concrete. My gawd it nearly killed me removing the old posts. I've attached a photo of the posts set in postcrete. Now they are in the same position as the ones I removed. 2ft of the posts are buried in 12" diameter holes. I've measured 2.8m...

    HELP! Post removal.

I've fitted 2 8ft 10" posts having spent a day for each to dig out post and concrete with 12" and 18" bolster chisel. Back breaking. I've got one more post and look where it is. I had a new patio layed last year. The decking in the attached photos are my neighbours. How the hell do I get this...

    Patio slab stain?

Is that what it is? Just on the edge and mortar. It's the only slab to be effected. Will it eventually disappear?

    Patio slab stain?

Hi guys I had a new sandstone patio put down summer 2019. Looked great. Anyway, noticed this bit of slab this year and don't know why the discolour. Looks like its bleached. I pressure washed the patio and its still there. Photos attached. Any thoughts? Thanks

    Quick splice; Scotchlok?

Well I've done some research and ordered some dielectric grease which coats the exposed terminals which protects it from the elements and doesn't effect the current. So I'll use one of these connectors (attached photo). You can see by 2nd attached photo how space is tight on the wires I've got...

    Quick splice; Scotchlok?

So this connector I've attached you think will be compatible with these wires? I can't work out the size of this connector. Most of these type are girls telephone wires. Most importantly they have gel in them to protect from moisture.

    Quick splice; Scotchlok?

Yes all the wires are good as I temporarily connected to original factory connector and horn works but I had to cut off factory connector and now need permanent connector which will protect the wires from moisture. I thought somebody on here could point me in right direction to scotchlok...

    Quick splice; Scotchlok?

John, yes I know but my OP I attached a photo of a scotchlok which has a gel to protect the wires from moisture. Because the horn is behind the grille its subjected to harsh weather so any exposed terminals and copper is going to corrode. This is why this type of connection is best compared to...

    Quick splice; Scotchlok?

Soldering, can't reach. Tried it. These connectors are the only way. Just don't know the size if ordering online. Photos of horn and wiring attached. Gauge of wires?

    Quick splice; Scotchlok?

Ok. I've fitted 2 tone car horns in place of 1 tone horn on my Renault Kadjar. The factory horn is weak. I'm attaching a photo of a waterproof scotchlok crimper connector which will connect 2 factory wires to new wires to horn. The car horn runs via 10 amp fuse. My question is: does anybody...

    Outside lantern stays on?

Briefly, just fitted a outside lantern for my aunt. Replaced the shoddy one which hadn't been working for years. Turned off the mains as the cable goes to a junction box and then main box. Connected L, N and earth. Secured the lantern then put the main electric back. Light bulb lit up but...

    Dry mix mortar?

No.This bellway house was built in 2001. Any movement was years ago. It's been a job on my list. I've attached photos of the gaps left after chiselling away the old grouting.

    Dry mix mortar?

Hi, I'm not sure if this correct group but here goes. My house was built in 2001. It has steps leading to front door. Metal railings either side secured to a stepped wall. Over the first years the steps moved then settled. Which means the mortar between the concrete slab steps and wall aren't...

Shed built too close to shed?

I'm not sure this is in the right topic but I've recently had extensive work carried out in my garden. New retaining wall, steps, patio and fence. In the gap I've had a much needed 8x4 shed. The shed was delivered and the installers said you should put a mini flow guttering on as the shed is...
