So as long as the switch has the right safe zone rating thing, I'm ok to put it inside the bathroom at least .6m from the edge of the shower bath?

The entire room is 1.8m x 1.8m, the entry point is to the right (you can just see the top of the door frame) and the tub would be to the left of the picture. The total expected distance from the edge of the tub to the door is about 1m so think I can manage the required .6m. However, I've read...

Unfortunately, there's not enough distance to adhere to regs and mount a switch on the wall. I'll move it to the outside eventually but that's a job for another day.

This is an interior brick wall of a bathroom with what I think is a layer of lime plaster. The plaster is crumbling away so I'd like to remove it and put up Hardie backer but this tube is in the way. Does anyone know what this is? Could this be a tie down for the roof? I don't have a picture of...
