Timber frame base footprint bigger than summerhouse

Any other suggestions to flashing tape? Only 1 section that is ever going to be visible is about 1.5m at the front… and you can paint it, so could match the decking/cabin colour… I thought it might pass?

Timber frame base footprint bigger than summerhouse

Already max height, also started building the cabin, thinking I’d sort the issue out later and now this thing isn’t coming apart. I’m thinking I could get away with some tilted timbers around the edges and then some flashing tape over that, will cause any water to run away from the cabin and...

Timber frame base footprint bigger than summerhouse

Hi all, so after spending a week or so constructing a timber base, ready for the delivery of a prefab summer house, the summer house has turned up a different size than was advertised and the company have given me the “our terms state you should wait for the plans to arrive before constructing a...

    Advice on large garden renovation

Hello, due to unforseen circumstances, I have 3 months to renovate our garden in order to be able to facilitate a garden room workspace. I have no landscaping experience, but am an avid diyer and will try anything. I'm intending to hire a digger & dumper, scrape everything off of the top & then...

Is this undermount sink too big?

It’ll be roughly 100mm from wall to the sink cut out, so I would think so. I did a quick sketchup so I could visualise it better, the circle represents the tap, a 54mm base of the tap and 32mm thread sticking through the worktops. As long as I can get my hand up the back with a ratchet or even...

Is this undermount sink too big?

The tap will have flexi connectors, drops them through the tap cut out leaving the flexis dangling and then connect on. The overflow is in 2 parts, I’ll connect in 1 part of the overflow, before the sink is fixed in and then connect onto it with the second part once fit.

Is this undermount sink too big?

I'm not too worried about the plumbing side of things, there's a good YouTube video, which the guy was in the same situation as me, but with a smaller unit/sink As you can see, he alters his unit, as I intend to do, cutting a notch from the top of the unit, to allow for the sink to sit lower...

Is this undermount sink too big?

Hi, we have a 800 sink unit (575 depth including a 65mm service void), which is double door, so requires a centre post. So I intend to leave a 25mm gap from the front of the sink, to allow room for a slightly altered centre post to screw into. However, it means the sink is almost flush with the...

Dealing with outside lights that don’t exist yet

I want a 3 gang switch by my back door to control 3 zones of my garden, patio, middle, rear. Right now we don’t know where any of these lights are going and I’m struggling to think of how to do this. Do I take a supply to switch, run 3 twin and earth to a junction box and then run flex/armoured...

    Opinions on kitchen downlight positions

Yep my first priority at the start of the renovation. Every light in the house has/will have a Shelly smart relay on it (I hate walking into someone’s house and having to turn a light on by shouting at Alexa/Google) so that allows me to hook into motion sensors and other smart devices/sensors in...

    Opinions on kitchen downlight positions

It's original 1960's property... don't think they believed in noggings  seems they didn't believe in 400/16" or 600/24" spacings either as none of these joists have the same spacing... The bathroom sits above the kitchen and we plan to renovate that next year and I'll be plying the joists...

    Opinions on kitchen downlight positions

Hello, just looking for some opinions on these downlight positions... I've spent days playing around with these positions... The 2 rows of 3, they are 700 centres from the walls and then 900 centres from each other, except the middle one is 805~ centres from the 2 rows. I've spent countless...

New loft hatch near joist overlap

Hi, I'm looking to put a new loft hatch in so that it makes getting things in and out of the loft easier, when we eventually use it as storage (Christmas decs, suitcases, etc...) My only worry is, where the loft hatch currently is (and needs to stay due to other limitations around the house)...

    Cavity vent or old-school extractor?

Yeah you’d both be right. They had an old gas warm air boiler thing (not sure what they’re called exactly) but I guess it being there for the gas boiler would make more sense than a pantry vent (as it wasn’t inside a pantry) luckily the boiler was removed sometime before we bought the house and...
