Me too... The whole wall is going, so there will only be ceiling where it was. I think that the ceilings are suspended, I don't understand that but this is not the first builder to mention joist supports.

We have found a builder! They have agreed to do it, but are not using a lintel at all, they are going to support the trusses instead.... so watch this space...

I was merely making it known that every wall here is breeze block. The attic pics don't show much except the timbers have been cut where the attic hatch is, so the ends seem to rest on that wall. You can't see much as the previous owner went crazy with the insulation. There were six of these...

This is the end wall from outside, so the wall is about where the meter cupboard is.

So here's the other side of the wall. It's about two feet wide, plus the door width, so a span of about six feet. My camnera broke shortly after this, but I took some pics with my phone in the attic. There's not much to see as the insulation is very thick, but the joists go across this wall...

Thank you. That wall is the bungalow end wall, the short one if you get me :-) We had hoped that the old door lintel went as far as the wall end, which would have made life easy, but apparently it doesn't.

The red bit is the piece of land that they bought. The council house is the blue bit, but it's wrong as the garden is much longer than that.

The tenants bought it, it was not part of their property. They bought it because it is convenient being next door. It is not part of the council property. The tenants are council house residents and do not own their house, but do own this square of land next door.
