The installer (from 20+ years ago) has scribbled down the colours of the wires at both ends and they match the manual. I see that later manuals (albeit for later models) are wired in the way we might expect. I presume this can't be tested without opening the bellbox?

In the following wiring diagram, why does the manual of the bell box/sounder instruct us to connect the 0v tamper return to the 0v supply, and the 0v supply to the 0v Tamper Return?
