    Mixing Cables

So why does it always pass the electrical saftey test? Like I said, I may be wrong, there may be an earth hidden away at the back somewhere. I havent looked that closely but there definitley isnt an earth in the trunking I mentioned.

I wasnt do anything with the elctrics I just want to run a network cable around to the other side of the room. I'm pretty sure you dont need to be qualified to do that. The electrics and the gas get tested regularly by the council so if they were unsafe then they would already know wouldnt they?

    Mixing Cables

It's a council flat and the whole place was wired by their sparky. Its not been fiddled with by anyone so I'm pretty sure its safe and its been tested since. I may be wrong, there may be an earth in there somewhere but I have had several of the socket fronts off and I've never seen an earth...

Yes all of the wiring is done with single wiring and none of the plug sockets are earthed although I've never cheched the ones in the kitchen.

    Mixing Cables

Hello, In one of our bedrooms (which we've turned into an office) we have two plug sockets. The second plug socket was added about ten years ago when the old 1950's electrics were replaced. Because there was no plug socket in that location originally the cabling was run on the outside of the...

    Door Closing Problem

I've taken all the measurments on the door; top right to bottom left, top left to bottom right, across the top and bottom and, down the left and right sides and, theyre all out by half a centimetre so, looks like the door isnt square. Not sure if i should just live with it how it is as i'm...

    Door Closing Problem

No just two hinges, six screws in each. Three in the frame and three in the door.

    Door Closing Problem

OK i did a bit of reading up on "hinge bound" and its possible I might have created this problem myself whilst sorting out another problem. We had a problem where the door wouldnt close at all because the top left corner of the door was striking the the frame when you closed it. You could...

    Door Closing Problem

Hello, I have a problem when trying to close my living room door. I'ts not that the door dosent fit or wont close but if you push the door to close it, not completely but, closed as so the catch touches the strike plate and then let go, the door springs back about 8 inches as if something is...

2 Lights from 1 Ceiling Rose

I was going to connect two pendents to the same rose by connecting both to the same terminals. When I say I was going to do it, this is only a theoretical question, I wanted to know if it was possible, that's the whole point of this thread. Anyway, the questions been answered, it isn't...

2 Lights from 1 Ceiling Rose

OK, when I first asked I said can I connect two pendents to one rose the answer was yes but then OwainDIYer said "You must not supply two flexes from a rose unless the rose is intended for it." So why is it OK to connect a new rose up to these terminals but not a new pendent?
