Thanks, so just to clarify connect both the blue wires into the new black connector box for the new fitting. The live block terminals aren’t connected together, can I just connect all 3 of them into a single terminal of the same type or do I need a different kind of terminal?

Current state below. I’ve now tried fitting each of the brown cables (from the set of 2 brown cables) to the live connection box in the new light fitting but still no luck.

Managed to connect everything up as described but the light’s not working and now the second room light also doesn’t work

Thanks, I’m not sure which neutral and brown cables were connected to the old lamp, is there any way to tell? Since they used twin browns does that mean these are the ones which need connecting to a connector block for loop? As you can probably tell I’ve not dealt with loop cables before, only...
