I guess this could be a possibility, just i know the bricks used were solid all the way through, unless some of them with holes were used in random places. Judging by the length of the drill bit, i'm pretty sure it was going in further than the full width of the brick as well.
I noticed while drilling into the exterior house wall the other day that on a few bricks i would drill about 3-4cm and the drill would suddenly go all the way in, like half the brick was missing.
Does anyone know what could be causing this and if it is something i should be concerned about?

That's a bit worrying lol it's definitely something i'd want to get signed off but that's probably going to cost an arm and a leg.
Apart from a company the specifies in installing them, do you know who else who would have the answers? As i say no one seems to install them here in the valleys.
We tried searching for a company that installs log burners to no avail. Apparently no one does it around here. I really want to DIY it but i can't seem to work out if anymore needs doing than possibly opening up the fireplace a bit and putting a flue liner down in from the top then connecting it...
Hello,
We desperately need our CWI removed (water drips down the walls it is so bad) and have had a few quotes around the £1800 mark. Tried going through CIGA as it should never have been installed in this property, on the side of a mountain with very porous bricks, to no avail.
Next door have...
Hello,
Our house was built 60 years ago with a chimney and coal use to be delivered to be burnt. Reading up about log burners / fire places and you have to get a flu liner installed.
My question is - If the house was originally built with a fully functional fireplace and chimney, why can't it...
Hello,
I am in the process of putting a very heavy raised chicken coop together. I've fixed some extra wood along the base and i'm not sure the best way to connect the posts. The first way would make life easier but then i wonder can 4 screws in each post support the weight above (very heavy...
I mean i'm talking 2 or 3 spots in tiny areas slightly soft, not put your finger through soft and i still want to protect it anyway... but yes i will look into wood hardener.
As i'm buying the wood preserver anyway and i'm very over budget, if it was suitable it would have saved money. The OSB is ever so slightly going in some spots around the edges (it feels slightly soft).
There is felt on the roof but i'd imagine moisture in the air and chicken poop plus water...
Hello,
I can't seem to find an answer to this online. Purchased a second hand chicken coop with an OSB floor and roof and want to protect it as best as possible. I am getting some Barrettine wood preserver for the rest of the wood - Does anyone know if wood preserver is suitable for use on OSB...
Right, so first off, apologies for the mammoth post this will probably be.
I have a few concerns i was wondering if you guys could help with (probably should have made another thread but bit late now).
I flipped the switch on the consumer unit for the downstairs lights, my contactless voltage...
Thank you, i will try this.
I've got a multimeter and bought 25m of 1.5mm2 earthing cable today, would that be suitable?
Sorry to be a pain but do you know of any guides on exactly what to do? Scares the poop out of me working on live wires so i want to make sure i have every step clear in my...
Thank you for the reply. The thing is i can't seem to find any the right length, even on Amazon. I was worried that if i cut them, the end could be rough and when i screw it down, cut into a cable. I guess i could dremmel any sharp bits.
Do you happen to know how i test that the earth is...
