    Help! My Light Won't Work!

Thanks The multimeter changes to 0 when I press the probes together on the continuity setting. It changes to 0.04 on the 200ohms setting. The wire is in a round sheath so I guess it goes to the switch, the room does have a 2 way switch. Do you need me to take both switch covers off to...

    Help! My Light Won't Work!

Ok, having now read your advice properly  we've checked the multimeter and it's still wokring fine, phew! With the power off we've tested each pair of wires and still there is no change the multimeter just reads 1. The spare red is by itself in a sheath with just an earth.

    Help! My Light Won't Work!

Ok, we've unwired the pendant. We've tested each of the pairs of wires using the continuity setting on the multimeter. The supply pair blew the fuse. We have replaced the fuse wire. The two other pairs produce no effect on the multimeter when we turn the switch on and off in the...

    Help! My Light Won't Work!

nope. Are we being very silly by testing it with the wires in the rose? Do we need to unwire it all to test for the switch? Thanks

We have found the supply cable, but the way we were given for testing the switch has no effect. Whichever pair of red and black cables we test - turning the switch on and off has no effect.

    Help! My Light Won't Work!

The light in the lounge comes on and stays on, the upstairs lights are now working. The light in the lounge will only come on if I turn the kitchen light on.

    Help! My Light Won't Work!

Hi, been a while, sorry! I have now wired the lounge light up, having found the switch. The light now works, but flickers. The rest of the lights in the house are still not working. I am a little worried by a fourth red wire that is in the lounge pendant, this one has an earth, but no...

    Help! My Light Won't Work!

Thanks, I have replaced the fuse wire, just in case, but the lights are still not working, upstairs or downstairs, eek! I have a multimeter, how do I use it to identify the supply wire and the switch wire? Thanks! Lucy

    Help! My Light Won't Work!

Ok, so I rewired the lounge light, all 4 red wires into the loop, one black to the live and two to the neutral and got nothing! It seems that no matter which combination of blacks I use (hoping to find the one that is the switch) the light does not work. Also all the lights in the house...

    Help! My Light Won't Work!

Three red wires were not connected to my lounge light, if I wire them in do you think I might have a solution?!

    Help! My Light Won't Work!

The Kitchen light is the last light downstairs, so should there still be three sets of cables? I'll take another look at the lounge light, that sounds like it might be the problem!

    Help! My Light Won't Work!

I've wired it both ways now and neither of them make the light turn on. What does that mean?!
