Looking for a smarter way to manage your heating this winter? We’ve been testing the new Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 to see how quiet, accurate and easy it is to use around the home. Click here read our review.
We have just recently had a new bay window "fitted" and have yet to pay the full remaining balance as there are aspects of the work we are not happy with. I'm not an unreasonable guy and I've been scratching around the internet to try and see if we ARE being fussy or whether the work is well...
The service was probably between 1-2 hours as it coincided with a small drip leak below the boiler which they fixed at the time. The BG guy said our "water was crap" which was why the boiler keeps developing leaks.....
She pays around £ 25 a month which is due to go up to around £ 30 from next...
I'm really not sure where this school of thought has originated from that I have ignored advice given on this board.
I posted last year a summary of the advice given to me, NOT to belittle or criticise anyone but to emphasise that I haven't been given any advice that contributors to this thread...
Well.....here we go again.
After all the problems last year the hot water worked fine throughout 2017 up until my mum had BG homecare do their annual service two weeks ago. Now hot water is again cutting out after 30 seconds and two rads in the house that weren't ever piping hot are now either...
It's difficult to tell if the hose is new or not nor am I 100% sure I'm looking at the right thing.
Oddly enough, after a new pump was fitted and whatever else they have done then the hot water is working fine now and the radiators are also heating up quite nicely. It's infuriating me that I...
I'm not at my mum's at the moment so will check again tomorrow.
I tried to make a point to British Gas that their service reports are basically crap. 95% of the form is pre-printed with a small box for the engineer to scribble whatever he's done in freehand.....it's like trying to decipher a...
Thanks for the response guys. I have genuinely appreciated the contributions on this thread but would love one of you to tell me what definitive conclusions have been reached that allows me to make a decision.
Some of the advice so far....
"..but I would be looking at the diverter valve not...
Update: So British Gas sent two senior engineers round today. They confirmed that on the last visit a new diverter valve was fitted and today they said that a new pump was also fitted.
Then they both recommended a copper repipe of the whole system with a quote to arrive within the next few...
British Gas have arranged a visit with a senior engineer to discuss this issue with us. I would like to be prepared as much as possible for the visit as I have a feeling they will try and sell us a re-pipe and power flush job.
Am I correct in saying that the width of the piping around the house...
The burner (flame icon ?) remains on even when the running water temperature drops.
None of the rads heat up whilst hot water is being run although the engineer did remark that one of the copper pipes under the boiler was hot to the touch when it should not have been. He said he had fixed this...
I will be visiting my mum later today so will report back on the questions raised.
The reason I haven't given my location is I prefer to keep this relatively anonymous. The BG engineer is arranging for a home visit with a senior engineer to discuss the problem in more detail. It would be good...
