what underlay over 2 different subfloors?

thanks for the replies, will take it on board. Maybe boarding over is an option but how will that effect the different humidity ventilation issues in each subfloor? Is there any reason not to use two different overlays for the the individual sub floors and then lay the flooring over?

what underlay over 2 different subfloors?

We just had 2 rooms knocked through to make a kitchen dinner. We want to lay a single wooden floor throughout to make it a more consistent space, i don't want a tiled floor and I understand engineered wood is best in a kitchen area if we go for wood. My problem is working out what underlay...

    Were to run my cable?

There are people who do many of the things you mentioned.Hard wire from a seperate CU , they have the tails split into two so one goes to the house cu and one to a dedicated hifi CU.They use certain type of RCD, carnt remember which one to comply with regulations, then hard wire to the...

    Were to run my cable?

I really dont know if there is a difference between using 2.5 and 6mm, but all my previous experiments from tightening or reducing connections, thus lowing impedence have brought good results. I will rewire with 2.5 for now as it will require less work and will be easier to get into the CU...

Sorry Adam you are wrong.I heard the improvments and they are not imagination. You cant imagine a bass line being strong and deep and then soft and soggy. Reducing the number of connections in your mains supply and making sure they are tight and clean, does make audible differences. How large...

    Were to run my cable?

I believe its more down to modulating effects rather than absolute voltage levels. As the amp does its stuff its modulating the power into the other equipment.Even a small change would be benifical, after all this is all a sophisticated power supply would be correcting anyway. Also the thicker...

    Were to run my cable?

Thats ok , I like a good debate  I see things more like this.although a cheap amp may have a worse power supply it has a lesser magnifing effect on the signal that a better amp. The better amp exposes more of what is happening with your CD player or record deck,so the effect of mains...

    Were to run my cable?

Adam, I firmly believe in science and experimenting to test results. You are ignoring the fact that the power amp modulates the power supply to the rest of the equipment. This in turn effects the turntable or CD player and pre amp , which are all voltage sensitive. The speed stability of a...

    Were to run my cable?

Ban-all-sheds, this is from the article you linked me too (by the way i dont beleive in "special" mains cables) "Because of the resistance of the supply authority's cabling and transformers (there are some massive cost considerations they must address), when a high power appliance is turned...

    Were to run my cable?

"I don't see how using 6mm cable to supply the socket instead of 2.5mm can make any difference to the sound quality. " The general belief is that its down mainly down to impedence. And mains wiring does effect sound quality in proper hifi systems (not cheaper -£1000 stuff). I have used my...

    Were to run my cable?

"A ring is a bit pointless for 1 socket, and 32A/6mm is overkill (and 6mm will be a bïtch to install) - as plugwash said, go for a single 2.5mm and a 16A breaker. If you think there is a realistic chance of extending the circuit you could use 4mm on a 20A or 25A breaker." Yes it would be...

    Were to run my cable?

Thanks for the help guys. The cable would be hiddenfrom view if mounted on the wall anyway so thats not a problem.I have a spare slot in my CU as was going to use either a ring of 2.5 cable or a single spur of 6mm into the 32 amp mcb and earth into the earth terminal of the CU.The sockets are...

Why would I want to pay for something that is easy to do?I fully able to wire things up , Its not like I'm stupid. I personnally dont have a bad attitude to doing small jobs, as a painter and decorator, I just charge a little more than the hourly rate I would for a weeks work.I understand that...
