    Wiring help

Thanks. I'd assumed it was some sort of plastic but looking more closely, it could well be made of steel. I don't have a multimeter but can probably borrow one.

    Wiring help

Thanks, it's not so much that I need an earth wire (as it's just an old type of rose/fitting) it's more why there is a bare wire.

    Wiring help

Hi, I've taken off a ceiling rose. At first I could only see a single live and single neutral wire and assumed because of the age of the house there was no earth wire. However, I noticed what looks like a very short, bare, third wire between the other two. Is this likely to be an earth wire that...

    Coving mitre query

I have ordered Pro-cove Lite polymer coving. It is 82 mm x 82 mm. When I look for a mitre box or tool for coving they seem to be for other sizes. Would I be able to use a mitre box or tool for, say, 127 mm coving to cut something smaller or does it need to be for the exact size? Thanks, S

    Radiator

This is happening even after the heating system has been on for a while. I'm not entirely clear if you are saying uneven temperature distribution is normal or not? I was under the impression it wasn't normal, but I'm happy to be corrected. Thanks

    Radiator

Sorry, I think I've given you the wrong impression. I'm not actually the plumber just the guy who'd hired the plumber. Thanks for your help and apologies again.

    Radiator

I forgot to say that we tried this - it did make the radiator hotter but the top was still noticeably hotter than the bottom.

    Radiator

Hi, I have just had the old radiator removed and a replacement installed in a new position in the living room. New radiator is not fully hot - the section near the bottom is not as hot as the rest. The new radiator is a type 22 with a BTU of 6800. The old radiator was type 21 with BTU of about...

    Roof query

A friend sent me these photos last week of the dry verge system in a new roof installation. Does it look OK?

    What is this in loft?

Hi, I've come across this white mouldy-looking substance in the loft of a friend . Anyone know what it might be and whether it's something to worry about?
