    Alternative to gravity fed shower

Thanks Rob, I'll go with the power shower. Many thanks for your help, appreciated.

    Alternative to gravity fed shower

Thanks, I've narrowed down to the above thermostatic sequentia bar mixer or power shower. There's pros and cons to both, the power shower needing electrical wiring and gives more pressure, whereas the other one is straight fix and no wiring but may give less pressure. The pressure on the...

    Alternative to gravity fed shower

Question. Does a power shower increase flow rate or pressure? i.e. having 0.1 bar pressure currently from header tank (1 metre height from bottom of header to top of shower). Cold water tank in loft feeds into bottom of copper boiler in 22mm pipe, hot water is heated from downstairs system...

    Alternative to gravity fed shower

Thanks Homer, but with the external pump I suppose you had to upgrade the pipes and a few other bits and bobs. Just wondering why you didn't opt for a power shower (I presume these have a built in pump). The modern ones are supposedly less noisy. Then everything is contained within the unit...

    Alternative to gravity fed shower

Why a Quartz digital rather than a modern quieter power shower? Is the extra expense justified, as the power shower will deliver the increased pressure at a lower cost.

    Alternative to gravity fed shower

Thanks, the Trevi shower would have been fitted when the houses were built circa 20 yrs ago. Not sure of the mm size of the supply. Does a thermostatic sequential shower mixer valve provide better pressure flow that other bar mixers. The reason that I place a lot of emphasis of pressure and...

    Alternative to gravity fed shower

Thanks, I think option 1 or 3 look the best for my needs. I think adding a pump is additional noise and cost, and also if it fails could cause issues. The power shower sounds like a good option, will do some research on it, don't like the sound of it having a pump, makes me think of extra...

Thanks, I will go for the bar mixer.

    Alternative to gravity fed shower

Thanks. The digital one is quite dear at around 500. Is the bar mixer electric, and would it need a new power line? I presume it would provide a higher pressure.

    Alternative to gravity fed shower

Hi. We currently have a mains fed water tank in the loft, a vaillant thermocompact system boiler in the downstairs utility room, and a copper immersion tank on the upstairs airing cupboard. The boiler heats the hot water and stores in the copper boiler until required. The boiler also heats the...

    boiler pressure gets low

I wish I had seen this post before deciding to put more water from the filling loop. :) I should've pumped the expansion vessel with air.

    Boiler pressure 3 bar.

Thanks, that was a useful article.

    Boiler pressure 3 bar.

Thanks, I've bled some of the upstairs radiators, but air doesn't come out, just water, the pressure has dropped a little. Just a note that the pressure going to 3 isn't a instant jump, but rather a gradual thing. Is there any value in using a footpump to pump up the expansion vessel?

    Boiler pressure 3 bar.

Hi all, I have a Vaillant thermocompact 628E, the pressure was around 0.6 bar (It should be around 1.0) so I filled it from the filling loop to around the number 1. Afterwards, I've noticed when the rads come on, the pressure on the boiler goes over the red line after the number 3, causing the...

    boiler pressure

Hi, I got it fixed through my home emergency cover when the outside pipe froze, they called an engineer from Vaillant. He replaced the PRV and also a couple of other valves, and pumped up the expansion vessel. All been working fine now for a few months.
