Right then, an update on this. I had a plumber come round and fit a new heating pump, but unfortunately the problem remains :( The heating comes on for 20 minutes, and then the boiler stops firing and won't fire up again for around 4 hours. No, nothing out of the ordinary. I had a plumber come round to install a new towel rail in the spring and not had my heating on since then - could he have turned a valve off or something?

Yes it's on max. It works fine for 30 minutes then goes off. Potterton model. Amber light constantly on so it's calling for heat.

Sorry I meant x400. I only have 3 rads in the whole house as it is a very small one bed. So won't need much of it.

I'm going to tackle this tomorrow by draining the system, and putting in some x300. Can I put this straight into the f&e tank or is it better to go in one of the radiators? If this doesn't help I'll install a new pump. Thanks for all your help John, much appreciated.

When I turn the hex head there is a lot of water coming out. Thought it was just supposed to be a dribble?

It doesn't come out with great force. More than just a dribble though, it goes up in the air before down. Downstairs rads are just a dribble.
