    Bathroom cabinet hanging suggestions

Not even necessarily u shaped- just a baton on the left of each stud to make them wide enough to catch the fittings. Although, now you’ve said it, the bottom of the u shape would mean I had a fixing point for any future cabinet, mirror or whatever I’m told to hang there in future! (y):D

    Bathroom cabinet hanging suggestions

Yup- perfect sense. Thanks Mrs will never go for that! :D Seems like the noggin is the most logical option. I’m cautious because the left side fixing is probably just past the stud so initially I was thinking of cutting out the laths and mounting a plank onto the face of the studs. Which means...

    Bathroom cabinet hanging suggestions

hi folks, I’m hanging a bathroom cabinet to be centred above sink and between the lights as shown in the image. Trouble is only one stud is behind the cabinet. These are lath and plaster walls in an 1880s house so wouldn’t take the weight without going into studs. Cabinet weighs 17kg. What...

    2 Master sockets

Not 100% sure what you mean here. It helps my simple mind to draw it! Is it the 'Alternative Option' shown in the attached? if so, I don't want to do that as it would have to take a pretty convoluted route between the two sockets. (round a room, down a hall, down two flights of stairs, one more...

    2 Master sockets

Should have said; the junction box is on a bathroom window-ledge! It's fairly discreet so wasn't moved during the renovation. The cables from that go immediately behind panelling and surface again in the attic... so, could I cut the cables in the attic, wire a new master up there using only one...

    2 Master sockets

Hi Guys, My Broadband speeds are cr@p and I think it relates to the fact I have 2 master sockets. The house was completely renovated in 2012 and wired from scratch. At the time the spark told me he was fitting two master sockets & I thought nothing of it as he must know best, right? Anyway...

    Boiler flue- under fire escape

Cheers! I do try! It's solid and the flue is about a foot shy of the edge. I'm in Scotland so it's freehold. We don't have a factor (agent) so just deal with stuff when it arises. I plan to paint just the underside of the landing so it's easier just to do that myself than get quotes and...

    Boiler flue- under fire escape

Cheers guys. Yeah it was thrown in- I don't think the picture does the jaunty angle justice! These two flats were renovated at once and it was a developer below so some expense was spared to say the least! Their planning application actually had the boiler 20 feet away from where they...

    Boiler flue- under fire escape

Hi Seems a fairly commonly asked question round these parts regarding legality of boiler flue installation but as every install's different I'll ask my own! My neighbour's flue is positioned below the top landing of a cast iron fire escape which my kitchen door opens onto. The steam is, as one...
