I am having a new kitchen fitted and there is no place to fit an existing PIR. I have joined the tamper wires together. The PIR is the only one on the zone. Can I just disconnect the other cables and insulate them or do I have to do anything else?

Would Fernox jointing compound be any good?

Thanks for the helpful replies Solder fittings I think is out of the question as this is oil. I now have my copper olives, would it be an idea to put a few turns of ptfe tape round the pipe to give the olive a tighter fit? I also intend to use a smattering of jointing compound.

I am moving my oil tank. All my fixings are 10mm compression. When I come to disconnect the oil tank (fitted about 15 yours ago) i slipped the olive over the pipe and it was very loose. Can I assume that it is 8mm or are there other sizes?
