they are about half a centimetre deep and go across 3 or 4 of the boards mate.. someone suggested using sawdust and p.v.a. glue? back to you....

i have recently moved into an old house. Have sanded up the floorboards in the sitting room as they were in reasonably good nick. The machine left a few indentations on the boards. Any tips on filling and finishing these? Also what would be recommended for protecting them?
