    Conservatory Base query

Well it turns out that there isn't a brick outer wall but a mock brick cladding material which is hanging down. I took a picture of the void under the gap today. Top right of the pick shows the thickness of the cladding material 3/4 of an inch. Didn't have a stick or anything available to see...

    Older House wiring query

My wife and I viewed a property yesterday that was a post war built property in Bletchley (or at least I think it is from that era). It was nice but I noticed that some of the electrical sockets were the older non-switch type. Some sockets were the more modern switch type. So I'm guessing...

    Changing a car battery

Disconnect the negative terminal first then the positive. As said above, take not of the battery position. Simples.

    Knackered pump?

It wasn't operating enough to pump the water around. It was literally just about moving and was getting stuck. The valves were leaking around it too. These were also replaced of course. Sorry for the RP plug. It was not intended. I'm just pleased it was sorted quickly.

    Knackered pump?

The pump was at fault. The engineer said straight away that it sounded knackered. It was a Gold brand model and not too good by most standards. Installed a Grundfos pump on speed setting two. £238 all in wasn't too bad. I used the Rated People website to find a local company. The engineer...

    Upgrade spark plugs

I always buy NGK plugs and find them better. Keep the same grade and don't change for a colder grade unless your running a highly modified car which generates a lot of heat.

    Focus style or zetec

Also depends what your using the car for and how long you intend to keep it. Just remember that if you sell it on again the Zetec or any better trimmed car will be more desirable and hold better value. I find the ride in a occurs very harsh and loud. An equivalent VW Golf is a more plush ride...

    Knackered pump?

Cheers. We wash in the shower which is electric of course. Washing machine is cold water fed. Shaving, some washing at the sink and washing up are all the wife and I use the Hot Water for. Central Heating did briefly work last night on initial test but rads didn't get hot very quickly...

    Knackered pump?

I noticed yesterday that the pump was staying on even after the back boiler had turned itself off when the hot water was being heated. The motorised valve seems to be ok and is in the Auto position. I have a gravity fed system. Water tank in the loft. Back boiler in the chimney breast in my...
