I'll give that all a go when I can get over to it later this week. Thanks for the suggestions.
There must be a combination there some where that does it!
A neighbour of my mother's who needs a helping hand. Lives some distance away so will take a few days to arrange checking out any suggestions. But will give all a go, and report back on what works. So please keep them coming, thank you.
"Surely the rods just push down on the flush mechanism. I have never seen a levered push flush/that is mechanically bonded to the cistern. That would not make any sense."
Yes the rods push down. But not below the bottom of the housing shown in the photo.
Dual flush - two buttons. Chromed bezel/cap does not screw off as shown in the video.
"Does the central plastic protrusion, between the push rods, move down to allow the chromed bezel to rotate together with the rods?" If you mean the round whiter piece of plastic in the centre - It moves down...
Rods will not push down below the housing. I have tried the twisting, pull, pushing combinations.
Cannot see any way of removing cistern. Other than removing whole toilet -and hard to see how do do that.
Trying to avoid the breaking the top of the button mechanism, as no way of knowing that...
the bigger post is a push rod.. No sign on any joint.
when lifting the lid it will move a mil or two, but I guess that's just the play in the linkage to the flush mechanism.
It will not unscrew. It will rotate a little either way, but the whole assembly turns with it. The ring on top is part of the same plastic moulding that houses the two push rods.
Hi I have a Serel close coupled push button dual flush cistern that i need to remove the cover from. There is no screw to undo under the push buttons and the housing/bevel will not unscrew. Any suggestions for removing the lid? Thank you
