    Thanks for the replies. I did use silicone. Hadn't received Nige's reply but yes I should have pumped it in the middle near the vent where as I just sealed at the bottom flap. Well if it comes loose I will know where to pump it next time.

    Nige F: Sorry I haven't got any picks, I did consider that you could run a guttering at the side of the dormer but it would look ugly. Stableroofer: I think you are right, trying cheap solutions to save money is really only delaying the inevitable.
