Water hammer I understand, but why should we get tje problem from thedetached house next door and most of all - can I do anything about it ? Near with me here, I'm a beginner !

My neighbour and I live in detached bungalows.We have a common stoptap outsid the boundary walls and we both have water meters. When he gets up in the mornings and goes in the bathroom we get a dreadful nlise in our roof Why should this happen and how do we do something about it ?
