Spoke to another Gas safe person while he was on another job and he said it was unlikely to be the gas valve and more likely to be the PCB. 4. What do I look for to find out if the PCB is at fault? If I can determine the PCB is at fault then I have a couple of options A - to purchase a new...

The potential difference between the pins is measuring at around 14.56 vdc when the boiler tries to ignite. 1. Should the voltage hold at 16vdc to hold the gas valve open? 2. Is the PCB at fault for not maintaining the voltage? 3. What is supposed to happen at these pins?

Vaillant ecotec pro 28. 6 years old, this fault started off being intermittent but is no longer resolving by resetting. I did some checking online (https://vaillantgroup.intelliresponse.com/) and found the information, Gas valve- 22vdc Red to Blue on the X20 pin connector (pins 18 and 9)...

    Ravenheat No gas, No flame

Just to clarify, one of the parts changers tried to solve the problem by changing parts but being unsuccessful replaced the original ones. I do however have a spare new gas valve. So parts replaced over 11 years are APS, APS and Modulator on gas valve. The spark electrode didn't actually need...

So, the two holes in the pilot nipple were simply needing a good clean. This was checked, held to the light, two holes clearly visable. But looks like a more thorough clean was required. Looking back over the life of this boiler, I must say, I haven't been too disappointed by this ravenheat...

    Ravenheat No gas, No flame

Let me put everones mind at rest. It cost me £40 to get this done by another gas safe person. I should add, however, that he did initially think the gas valve was at fault but when I told him what I had read on the forums (The pilot light not lighting would not allow the gas valve to open). He...

    Ravenheat No gas, No flame

Having changed the spark electrode, a pilot flame appeared (with the pilot taken out of its housing and only doing a quick test, though I didn't try this with the original spark electrode). But flame was not appearing to be strong enough to ignite main burner(suction from the fan kept putting...

Both the measurements are fluctuating. Am I suppose to get a single value or is this dependant upon the APS?

ianmcd I'm using a DT-830B multimeter. Set to 200 ACV. To carry out this test, I removed the honeywell ignition pcb from the gas valve which gave me access to the enclosed plug at the back of the pcb. I connected common to the middle pin (earth) and measured against the very top pin. Then...

    Ravenheat No gas, No flame

Ianmcd There are 5 connection points at the back of the honeywell ignition board. The middle one being earth. The top two are for the Gas valve Main and the bottom two are for the gas valve pilot both have a voltage at the point of boiler sparking.

Agile, the problem I have with the statement you have made is that__ a gas engineer does not repair parts. He identifies the problem and then replaces the part with another one. The responses, so far, to my questions appear to rule out all but the most expensive parts of the boiler, i.e the gas...

The closed plug is connected to the honeywell ignition board which has cable connections to the main control motherboard: What should be the voltage? If the voltage was incorrect then where would that point you in the direction off?

The trouble shooting flow chart mentions EV1-COM on the gas valve (pg44) but not on the pcb? Though the manual is suppose to be a guide I think it is unclear on this point.

How do I measure ev1 com. You asked me this at the beginning..please give details.
