Ok after lots of persuasion, finally got the pipes undone, left the original olives, obviously the backing plate was different fittings but did it as tight as we could on 1 screw instead of 2 and it's working.
Never thought I could do it but thanks again guys
Well not a great start, can't get the nuts to loosen on the feed pipes. Tried wd40 but just not budging and pipe wrench just slipping and scratching nuts
All ordered from Bristan store on Amazon as I had £98 of vouchers

Going to give it a go myself at the weekend, failing that I've got someone I can hopefully call upon. Now I know about the maintenance, I'll get that done now although what sort of interval is...
yeah that's it, the plan is to go for like for like and just get the newer version. The £115 was a price for the handle and they advised it 'might' fit and then the valve was around £45 and parts only.
I'm hoping that the fitting plate is the same so I don't have any messing around with the...
literally ;)
so the knocking was likely to be the valve then? I think we are going to go for a new one. A supplier has come back with one that "might fit" for £115 plus the valve so think I might go for new shower.
Sure enough Bristan have come back to say they aren't available anymore. I wasn't aware that the cartridge needed maintenance so maybe it's that causing the knocking? We did manage to use it this morning turning the surround by hand but it was stiff initially then loosens as the flow...
Just found this so hoepfully Bristan will come back and confirm it's all I need although need to work out if this is the cause of the shutoff issue as well...
Ah ok, was thinking meant it had been drilled after installation but you mean from the manufacturer and then slowly weakened over the 11 years.
I see it does look like Bristain have contact emails so probably try that tomorrow
Hi all,
We've got a Bristan 1901 exposed shower that started an issue whereby you turn the white handle to turn it off and the water would continue flowing until you turn the inner temperature dial until it knocks and then the water shuts off. It started intermittently but seems to be doing it...
Ok I've got some treated rough sawn timber which has done the job and the same as I used a few years back for a rose bed.
I understand I should protect the uncut edges but can I get away with something like Ronseal woodstain or do I need some preserve first...
I don't at the moment I'm afraid but it's just effectively a block planter that's been added onto the back of the steps with coping stones on top.
The OSB board worked with a cushion on top but just rotted and hoping there is something I can put on top that won't rot without having to take all...
