How to unblock 10mm flow pipes?

Sorry for the delay but have had PC issues. Thanks for all the suggestions, I have tried both non-acidic (X800) and acidic (DS40) without success. I do have a Magnaclean fitted so hopefully if I ever do resolve the problem it will stay solved. I have had thermal imaging done to have a look...

How to unblock 10mm flow pipes?

Cheers for that, I have tried using mains water without success with an elaborate device cobbled together with some copper pipe and a pressure meter to make sure I was getting plenty of pressure. I've not tried compressed air, can I do that with a foot pump or would I need to get a compressor?

How to unblock 10mm flow pipes?

I've tried putting DS40 in the pipes and adding a small amount of pressure but it didn't work (made things slightly worse if anything). The flow pipes are still blocked to 5 upstairs radiators. I've checked the pipes and it is the ones that get hot first that are blocked. Is there anything...

How to unblock 10mm flow pipes?

Thanks Tony, I did the bucket test on both pipes and the lockshield side was flowing fine but the TRV barely dribbled. I did remove the TRV and all was well with it. If I were to drain the system and inject DS40 into the blocked legs, would that be a safe and effective way of doing it?

How to unblock 10mm flow pipes?

Good point, it could very well be the return, not sure why I assumed it was the flow. It's definitely the one with the TRV that is blocked.

How to unblock 10mm flow pipes?

Hi, I've had an ongoing problem with 4 upstairs radiators not getting as hot as they should. They do get warm along the top but the bottom is always cold, the return pipe tends to be hot but the flow pipe is cold so I assume it is heating via convection rather than flow? I've tried isolating...

    Possible Blocked Return Pipe

Thanks again :) Just drained one of the rads and the water was very very black with lots of particulate matter. I checked the flow on the return pipe while it was off. At 2 turns the the water was flowing out fairly fast but at 4 turns it had almost stopped again, not sure if this means...

    Possible Blocked Return Pipe

Thanks for your help. I've managed to test the resistance with my multimeter across the cable terminal with the cable disconnected. Across live/neutral to earth was infinity and across live to neutral was: 208 ohm for speed 3, 352 ohm for speed 2 and 417 ohm for speed 1. Do these sound...

    Possible Blocked Return Pipe

Hi. The boiler is a Trianco Oil 70/90. It does seem to switch on and off as needed. There is no temp settings but the dial is set to about half past 6! I do have a room stat which is in a room with a working rad, hence the system switching off when that rooms warm but others struggle to get...

    Possible Blocked Return Pipe

Powflush is definitely a possibility but I thought a Magnaclean would be a good investment for future protection should it not help solve my problem. I did look into X800 too, my only fear was not being able to empty the system completely after running it. Maybe not an issue if I run enough...

    Possible Blocked Return Pipe

Hi I have an open vented system with 18 radiators + 20sqm or so of underfloor heating (never used). It has 10mm plastic pipe upstairs and 10mm copper downstairs feeding the radiators (powered by a grundfos 15/60). I've had a problems which has been getting progessively worse where the...
