Yeah, it's good to flush the pipes but in this case it was brass trapped inside the valve, about the size of half a 1p coin so no amount of flushing of pipes would have removed it.

It was from the casting or machining of the valve body. Bloody annoying that it will have cost me two extra visits over what I priced for.
