Bi-fold locking door very difficult to lock, maybe deadlock engagement issue?

One further point. I noticed when I turn the key when the door is open that the deadlock does not go in and out, lifting the handle does however cause the deadlock to extend or retract, along with both hooks. Is this normal ? My side does has a slightly different hook arrangement but with that...

Bi-fold locking door very difficult to lock, maybe deadlock engagement issue?

Hi I have a bi-fold door on the rear of the lounge, about 9-10ft wide at a guess. Its made of three panes and slides from right to left. The left pane can be open and closed like a normal door. The issue is that for a while now locking and unlocking the door is very difficult. There are two...

Sky Light End Bar Cap refitting Question

Hi I had some sky lights fitting in to my kitchen extension about 5yrs ago and after the recent storms I noticed two of the plastic end cap pieces have come off due to the plastic breaking (see pic) I've found what looks like replacements here. I'm concerned that when I unscrew the end...

    Grp pooling and flaking

Thanks for the response. It's a shame using flexitec is causing this to be a pain. Two roofers have now told me they would clean the roof and put a top coat on, however this doesn't seem to be an option which is a pain.

    Grp pooling and flaking

Sorry to ask for more info. So from what you have said if I don't go down the liquid rubber path then if the roof is cleaned correctly a normal grp type top coat should be fine but Restec who sell Flexitec wouldn't be ok with this which I would be fine with I think Also as I mentioned the...

    Grp pooling and flaking

I'll be getting a different roofer in. Not the original guys who applied the flexitec. Are you saying that you can't use a different top coating because it won't adhere chemically after sanding or that flexitec won't back doing that due to warranty. I'm not really tied to it with a warranty...

    Grp pooling and flaking

Thanks for that's. If sanded back would it need the same top coat as the original (flexitec) or would most grp top coats be suitable?

    Grp pooling and flaking

Here are a few shots. I had a walk around on the roof and the fibreglass doesn't appear to a delaminated.

    Grp pooling and flaking

Hi, I had an extension done 5 yrs ago with a grp roof (Flexitec) and a couple of sky lights. It isn't leaking however it has always pooled just by the drip edge (not sure if that's the correct term) and was getting fairly filthy. I went up to clean it and realised that most of the surface has...

Top of bedroom chimney breast plaster is slightly damp

Ah ok, well the breast has a flue for upstairs and downstairs so I would have to figure out from outside the path of the flue to the bedroom and break in to the bricks there, ideally behind the upstairs fireplace.

Top of bedroom chimney breast plaster is slightly damp

There doesn't appear to be a vent. I previous owner probably a long time back must have removed the fireplace in the bedroom and sealed it up and removed the second pot from the chimney. I'd assumed this meant the whole flue to the original bedroom fireplace would have been sealed off so no...

Top of bedroom chimney breast plaster is slightly damp

Sorry when I said capped I probably used the wrong terminology. It's got a pot but there is a cover held on with wire which is 3 or 4 inches above the pot. The chemicals you mention drawing the damp through the breast is what next door was told about his so it could well be that. I think he...

Top of bedroom chimney breast plaster is slightly damp

Hi a couple of years ago I noticed that there was a bit of bubbling under the wallpaper and in a bit of the lath and plaster in ceiling just above on the top of the chimney breast in my front bedroom. At the time this was almost certainly from some leaking above in the chimney stack and the...
