Simulated slate roof leak but why?

I've just realized I never updated this thread. Although we had the chimney rebuilt (some of it was literally falling apart) the leak persisted. In the end the problem was that the underfelt was split where we couldn't see it above the original cavity wall (the roof must have been...

Where can I get these odd shaped handles?

The manufactures reply is that they don't make it any more. Does anyone in the trade know of a another possible source? Second hand would be ok. And I have tried Ebay before the fox barks at me again..

Where can I get these odd shaped handles?

Thanks for that. :) I did have look on their website before I posted but it looked a bit 'trade only' and I couldn't find my twisty looking handle listed. If anyone else can shed any light- this is what it looks like. //media.diynot.com/113000_112329_80480_16476341_thumb.jpg...

Where can I get these odd shaped handles?

I need a couple of handles for my UPVC windows. They are white handles marked 'AVOCET' but they are an unusual barley twist sort of shape. I think they were fitted around the year 2000. If they are going to cost a arm and a leg I'll use standard handles but I quite like the quirky ones...

    Window handles stuck

Thanks :D I'll try that. Itoccasionally works on car doors when they won't open from inside or out! Maybe I could try gently heating the handles up with a hot air gun also...

    Window handles stuck

I've had a good search around but I can't find an answer so I'm hoping some kind soul here can help! I have 3 or 4 stuck handles on my double glazed windows. They were fitted by the previous owner of the house in about 1999. The key turns ok and seems to unlock the handle because the...

    Laguna 1.8 Timing Belt

Be careful on the 16v Renault engines. Many of them have no woodruff key on the crankshaft sprocket. (Similar to the Ford 1.25 Zetec engines). Once the crank pulley bolt is removed, the lower cam belt sprocket will turn on the crankshaft slightly at some point. You really do need to use the...

Simulated slate roof leak but why?

Sorry for the double post. Can anyone guess from the pictures what my slates might be made of? They look like some kind of lightweight slate copy but they have weathered some pretty big storms here on the North Cornish coast so I suppose they must be ok...

Simulated slate roof leak but why?

We originally thought the flat roof was the culprit too but found water dripping higher up when crawling around in the loft. By that time we had already put the tarp on the flat roof. We tucked the tarp under the bottom row of tiles and added the silicone because we may have to leave the house...

Simulated slate roof leak but why?

Thanks for your reply! I got hold of the original 1959 plans for this house and it shows the original roof as wooden shingles! The neighbours agree it was like that once but has been replaced with these slates or whatever they are. The chimney doesn't look too good either.... Ignore the...
