    Locks for wooden garage door.

So all the hinges on both the door and post have coach bolts in. I don’t think they’re on the pictures but I drilled and filed out holes to they are in both parts. I’m not 100% sure I follow what you mean but replacing the top batten with angle iron is a good idea!! That way I could use the...

    Locks for wooden garage door.

Thank you! Yea I think that’s probably what I’ll end up doing. I just hoped there was something better or one system

    Locks for wooden garage door.

Yea the doors aren’t completely finished yet. I’ll be putting a weather drip sill on the bottom and strip up the middle but was waiting until I sorted locks before doing this in case it interferes or works as part of it.

    Locks for wooden garage door.

Yea I did wonder about doing this, they look pretty good but from what I’ve ever heard they’re not very secure?

    Locks for wooden garage door.

Yea that’s true. I’m not after fitting a highly accurate locking system but more something that’s secure and fixes in a few places without the need for multiple locks in multiple places. There’s stuff on the market but just not quite what I’m after.

    Locks for wooden garage door.

Hi, Ive just built a garage/workshop but have hit a bit of a wall in regards to locks and door security. Ive spent more time than I want to admit looking for what I'm after but I just can't seem to find it. one door will only be opened from the inside with bolts going into the floor and frame. I...

    CAT6 cable, shielded or unshielded

Thank you for the replies. So basically the cables are naturally resistant to interference? So in a domestic setting this would be okay, is it only in a more industrial setting this would become an issue? I just want to be sure before I go ahead because once it’s in I can’t change it.

    CAT6 cable, shielded or unshielded

Thanks for the reply. Why would it be okay? Looking online some say it’ll be okay and some say it won’t. Is it not so bad with domestic electrics?

    CAT6 cable, shielded or unshielded

I am in the process of installing a Reolink CCTV system in my home. So far I have run 3 cat6 UTP cables to 3 cameras but I am stuck on my cable run for a video doorbell. This run will have to run alongside a ring main circuit and the lighting circuit as well as various light switch wires. I...

    Replacing internet/phone line into house.

Thank you for this! The cable comes from a drop wire and then around the house into the lounge window. So I have to have that terminal box? I can't run the wire from outside all the way in to the master socket? I might rethink this idea or go for somewhere else so that in the future when fibre...

    Replacing internet/phone line into house.

That person would be me! ‍♂️ when I had the internet put in I didn’t know where I was going to have the socket so the guy just left a load of slack and had it loose for me to do as I pleased with it. You’re right though the master did used to be there. I now want to run all new cable from...

    Replacing internet/phone line into house.

That junction box looks to be what I have in my window sill. The external cable comes into this and then a white cable from that to the master socket. I may not have been all that clear but I want to renew the cable from where it joins the outside of my house down to the master socket, run a...

    Replacing internet/phone line into house.

Thank you for your reply. That's right, an internet or broadband connection. The phone line is described as "Digital Voice (VoIP)" from Vodafone who is my provider. I'm not sure if this is the same as DECT. I like the sound of future proofing for fibre as in 5 years or so I don't really want...

    Replacing internet/phone line into house.

Strictly speaking you're right but I'm sure it won't be an issue in reality. Ive found the cable thanks to bumping into my neighbour that has a background in this stuff. I am now after a way of improving the bulkiness of the master socket or swapping it for something else. I don't want it...

    Replacing internet/phone line into house.

Doing a bit more digging it seems that only 2 cables are actually connected, presumably this is all I need for the internet and the others were for a landline?
