Thanks for the suggestion, @sparkymarka ! I should have explained a bit more. The cellar is tanked and there's a water container (bucket) below the floor that any moisture water will pool into. This bucket contains the pump and also a float switch that will create a closed electrical circuit...

Our cellar has a water pump, in case of flooding. There's an audible alarm connected to a float switch, should the pump fail. The alarm seems to be broken, it just feebly beeps on an open circuit. The float switch is working fine. The battery is also good. Does anyone know where you'd be able...
