nope you need a wired brush and some hamerite paint,just wire brush the welding and clean and paint,probably flux from weld.

not sure where it was fed from originally,i`ve had consumer unit changed and tested electrics,where would it get 26v induced from seems quite high,i want to get rid of it really,would it be safe to tape up and bury in wall ?

In my hall on the wall is left a old room thermostat,it was used when there wa a oil fired boiler in the house,the boiler was replaced for a gas one and a new thermostat placed on the landing,(all before i owned the house),now i`m decorating the hall,when i put my fluke on the positive(red)...

just a quick update,stop cock was found by severn trent using a metal detector it was buried under tarmac,plumber tightened up leaking stop valve and did a runner and never returned,not even for a payment,he filled gland with ptfe i think.oh yes and thanks for the advice

i`m not that experienced in plumbing so i don`t think i`ll try snatching on a main incoming water main,my wife would kill me and the kids can`t swim yet :D

i intend to get a plumber to change the stop cock,they never mentioned any charges when i phoned severn trent to ask for a engineer to locate

Hopefully not,no sign of cast iron lid in pavement and everything is pretty open so its not as if it could have been done by accident,if there is not one will severn trent put one in ?,after all how would they be able to cut me off if i refused to pay ?(not that i`m planning this)

I live in a 1970`s built detached house on a typical estate,my stop cock in the house is leaking slightly and needs changing,the only problem is i can`t see a stop cock outside in the pavement ?,the houses either side of me and across the road all have one in the pavement outside there house,but...

my roof leaks around the chimney flashing and through the roofing felt near the stack,the chimney is no longer in use,i`ve asked a builder to remove the stack and make good the roof above it,the chimney is open at the bottom and vented half way up,the builder suggested leaving the chimney open...

i`ve got a 55 plate 20 fsi touran(petrol),last night the alarm kept going off and wife thought she heard the fan going off,today battery is tottaly flat and won`t even jump start, still under warranty thankfully.We had a problem with the fan control unit when it was new the fan just kept coming...
