It was a board made by celotex, it wasn't insulation. Same size as an osb board but they shrink over time and sag badly.

It was commonly used in Scotland. Having removed them 100s of times and my dad having fitted them originally I can confirm it is.

It's made from around 90/95% cellulose, unsure on the other 10/5%

Not necessarily, depends on experience with that one. An older lead worker is more likely to boss it instead of pulling all his gear up...

I'm not disagreeing with the work being poor but the lack of lead welding isn't the reason. Any good leadworker can boss a chimney like...
