I used a Dulux kitchen paint trade (eggshell) which sounds like it should be breathable

Oh interesting, thus is because it might be damp thats causing it? So you'd advise taking it back to brick > limelite > finishing coat? Any PVA needed before the limelite? Thanks again

Huge thanks for your response, yes a new kitchen. He was trying to accomodate IKEA kitchen sink and fittings, and added on some macalpine fittings to make it all work. Here are some photos of full set up. Is the grey fitting the trap in that case?
