The heating industry is part of the free market economy. There aren't any nationally enforced rates like prescriptions. It's a bit like asking 'how much should I expect to be charged by a wh*re?'.

From those, Pegler. Seen too many Drayton's leak, especially on high temp old systems. Though had Pegler failing to close. Try Honeywell VT117. Have never seen one fail.

Have just replaced a 30cdi combi with a new open-vent system in an extended house. Just for exercise stripped parts from the WB which was harder with it drained on the bench than most combis are in situ. I would defy anyone to be have been able to replace the hydraulic parts on it. All o-ringed...

Not worth getting into gas these days OP. There are more out there than ever fighting over the scraps left by the nationals. Forget comparisons with other professionals, car cleaners, gardeners, dog groomers and path jet washers earnings leave gas engineers in their wake.

Why ask if you already have a price?

Scale inhibitors and water softeners are different things. A scale inhibitor will not turn your water soft.

If you wanted to prepare to cover the worst, budget for this. Your boiler won't last 26 years, you may be on your 3rd combi by then. Expensive interventions, whether faults or expensive service items will be nearer every 26 months not years. These boilers are not fit for existing systems...

Seriously OP. You are what may seem like light years away from being a time served gas engineer, which still offers little reward. It would take less time to do the knowledge, your HGV, Trainee train driver etc.. All of which offer better earnings, more continuous work and infinitely less grief.

I'll point you in the right direction. Don't waste any more time and money, if you've any other skills find another trade. Gas is sh*t.
