Thanks. will try switching off and seeing what happens to the water level. There are no damp patches around any of the radiators. I presume you mean these (the tees) will be buried in the screed, but will be the cause of the verdigris.

We have a small bungalow with a pumped vented system but can't keep air out of the system, have to bleed the radiators every three days or so. The expansion tank has water in it, but the ball cock seems to be constantly trickling water to maintain the level. There are automatic air removers...
