    Lintels/Steels…corner or straight?

Hi Woody. Thankyou so much for all this. I remember seeing ‘catnic’ on the lintel, before it was covered up with fire proof stuff. You are correct abut the extension not being tied in. The whole of the extension (which is a garage with a bathroom above) was new . I have attached a photo of the...

    Lintels/Steels…corner or straight?

Hi Woody, Thanks for that, some good information there. I think the surveyor had intended to put a flat steel across. There is a catnic lintel on the inside of the door, Interestingly when we had an installation years ago a steel was put in and no one mention building regs. Is it a total...

    Lintels/Steels…corner or straight?

Hi Freddie, of course! When the first person came to look at it they said a corner one (presumably because of the fitting, or maybe the weight of the adjacent building pulling?). The second surveyor said a straight one. So basically a discrepancy in ideas.

    Lintels/Steels…corner or straight?

Good Morning Having an external door changed from timber to upvc. Am using FENSA approved installers who I have used before. My question is re the lintel/steel which needs to be put above the door. In the situation shown below would a straight one suffice, or does it need to be a corner one...

Which of these sockets are in the right place? (If any)

Morqthana. The whole picture is picture B. I just drew the black line in on a photo using my finger , it was supposed to roughly represent a ‘nearer’ scenario of around 450. The other one ‘much further away’ is 19.5cm according to real life measurement. Thankyou, you made me laugh about losing...

Which of these sockets are in the right place? (If any)

Sorry , i will try and clarify. I asked the electrician to be as near as is practical to the sides of each cupboard, which i think he said 450mm. For some reason when the cabinets were installed, one of them (see pic attached) was much further away from the edge of the tall cabinet . Not sure...

Which of these sockets are in the right place? (If any)

Hi there Just had sockets installed before a kitchen. Unfortunately they have not ended up symmetrical. Pic One is about 500mm from the cupboard end, the other (pic 2 shown near a kettle )is about 19.5. Pic 3 shows how you cant really see them both at one Thinking of having one moved to make...
