Tim, thank you - this sounds like the ticket. Now where do find those valves...? I am looking at the pump, I opened the electronics box on top, but can't see anything that appears to be a valve that could be closed.

Hello, I have just installed what I thought was top of the range £300 Salamander pump for my bathroom with a mixer shower, mixer tap and toilet. The plumbing is simple, so I am sure there is nothing odd going on there, but the pump seems allow the hot water to flow into the cold water plumbing...
