    Problem painting a garage door

Thanks for the further replies. Another forum I'm using also suggests to leave it to dry of fully before attempting to get rid of the wrinkles, so looks like I'll do that. One the few that's I've already attempted to sand, will I be able to remove this 'tiger print' mark in a few weeks...

    Problem painting a garage door

After examining the door once more, the blistering seems to have occurred only on the top half. Sanding down this blisters seems to be a bit of a hassle and isn't really removing them properly and is leaving a sticky mark behind. Is there anything I can do to get rid of them more...

    Problem painting a garage door

All I did was wash it down with sugar solution and a sponge, then rinse it off. The Hammerite guide said something along the lines of "Use abrasive paper and if necessary use a wire brush to remove rust". The way I read that was to use the paper to remove rust, not to do it anyway :(

    Problem painting a garage door

I'm such an idiot. Every website I've looked on now mentions sanding to allow the paint to adhere properly. I have no idea how I missed it. Do I get rid of the paint and start again, or do I pray and hope for the best that it doesn't peel?

Uh-oh. No I didn't. I read elsewhere that you only need to sand if paint is peeling. Looks like this job is going to get worse before it gets better :( Thanks for the responses so far. The weather seems to have taken a turn for the worse so I won't be able to do any more to it for a few days.

    Problem painting a garage door

HI guys, thanks for your replies. I just had a sand down of a few wrinkled spots. It's smooth but has kind of left a tiger print mark. Will this be shown through the second coat? Which is better for application, roller or brush?

    Problem painting a garage door

I decided to give my metal garage door a long overdue coat of paint on Saturday. It was my first time painting a garage door so I tried to get clued up as much as possible (but evidently not enough). The original paint was just extremely faded, there was no peeling or bare metal, so it was my...
